"You go to the West side of the parking lot, and I'll go to the East side."

Ludwig nodded, then watched quietly as Gilbert began to take a few steps away from their spot on the end of the sidewalk, where the endless parking lot began. The lot was colored with varieties of colors, from white to black. Cars here and there would back up from their stalls, and would drive away to their other destination.

The younger brother then quickly grabbed the older one's shoulder, and Gilbert was quickly yanked back in his place. Gil turned in annoyance and urgency written on his face. "What is it now? I have a child to save!" he growled impatiently. He wanted to run out there in the lot, and look left and right.

"Bruder, if we don't find her, we'll meet up here and start from one end all over again," Ludwig comprised. Gilbert quickly nodded, then ran off, shrugging the German's hand off his shoulder. He watched for a few moments as the older brother walked off, then proceeded to go the the left side of the lot.

Ludwig continued running, swinging his head back and forth, looking for a child running among the colored cars. The sun was setting slowly but quickly, and the sky was starting to turn a low blue. The chances of finding [Name] were getting slim, and what if she was all the way at the highway already?

Ludwig shook his head, refusing to think that. He continued to look. During the searching, he got honked at by a car, and almost ran over by the same one. Feliciano had also called him a few times, saying that him and Kiku were coming to the mall to help. Ludwig couldn't help but to think that [Name] made him all. . . happy on the inside. Usually, he would get annoyed by the Italian, or eventually being bored about training daily. [Name] was a new case for him, and he wanted to help.

He seen homeless people on the streets, and sometimes gave money to them. But, [Name] was a child, abandoned by a parent who didn't seem to want her anytime soon. Life may be nice to others, Ludwig thought grimly. But, the world is full of depressing things. War, homeless, starvation. People say there will be peace but, how can there be if people continue to fight?

A moment passed after Ludwig continued to search, but had no luck. "Scheisse!" he cursed out loud.

As for the other end, Gilbert was determined to find [Name]. It was a cruel world these days, and Gil remembered back then when he used to have no friends because of his eyes and hair. He still kept his ego up, though on the inside he was depressed on the inside. But now, he had friends who liked to be with him.

He swung his head back and forth, and kept running from the left side of the aisle to the right, then back to the left. This agitated some drivers, and they shouted at him. Gilbert just gave them a sick grin, and then continued as if nothing happened.

The sky was getting a light navy color, and the sun began to disappear over the horizon.

Gil finished his side. Much to his dismay, he couldn't find any young child swerving in and out between cars of running in the middle of the lot. Gilbert cursed loudly, slamming his fist on a nearby pole. The metal rang loudly in his ears, but he ignored it and looked at the ground in defeat.

Nein, he suddenly thought. I can't give up. Luddy said to meet up with him at the side walk, but that will take to long to go back and then go to the West side. He then began to run to the left side of the lot, where Ludwig would await.

     Hopefully.

Ludwig look at the ground in anger, mad at himself for letting [Name] run away like that. He then remembered to meet up with his brother at the sidewalk, where they would begin searching once again on this again, but this time, together. But, now that I think about it, it sounds like a bad idea, Ludwig thought in realization. Why didn't he suggest that they just look over in their place again.

Reluctantly, he picked his phone out of his pocket, and pulled out the contact list in a rush. He pressed Gilbert Beilschmidt, and the phone began to ring. "Awesome me speaking, what is it West?" Gil answered from the other side.

"Er, bruder. I think that we should look over our sides again once we-"

"Too late!" Gilbert quickly said. "I'm already heading to your side of the lot! Don't move, I could see you!"

He then hung up, and Ludwig let his hand drop to his side and slid his phone back inside the pocket. Ludwig looked around for his brother in urgency, and saw that a figure that was coming closer and was waving at him. He could make out the form of his older brother, and slightly sighed in relief.

He glimpsed at the front, only to realize there was a small blur of [h/c]. Ludwig's eyes widened, and he blinked again. There it was again. This time, it was near an empty stall. "[Name]?" he muttered hopefully.

A car then swerved around the corner in front, and began to drive forward. Ludwig could see that the driver was looking left and right for a empty stall, not giving much care about the other cars behind him. Wait, if he sees the stall [Name]'s in. . .

Gilbert watched as his younger brother suddenly turned his head away from him, and he rose his eyes in confusion. He looked at where Ludwig was looking at, and saw that a car was going to turn a corner. The mall was oddly crowded today, and there wasn't much available spaces.

Gil could hear the tires screech as it turned the corner, slowing down slightly. He then saw Ludwig run forward, and it seemed he was heading straight towards the car. "Wait! Dummkoph!" Gilbert shouted, thinking Ludwig was going to run into the car.

He ran forward towards the younger brother, reaching out for him as the car neared.

Gilbert then realized that he wasn't heading towards the car, but towards something the car was heading at. Gil then realized that there was a glint of [h/c] shining because of the remaining sun, and the recent person he knew that had [h/c] hair like that was. . .

     [Name].

The car's heading towards [Name]! Gilbert shouted in his head in realization. He shot forward towards where Ludwig was heading.

The driver's not even paying attention! "[Name]!" Ludwig called out. The person turned around, and her eyes widened as Ludwig neared. The car neared. Ludwig's eyes then widened slightly in realization, seeing the situation he was in. If I manage to save [Name], she'll be facing the car and I don't have time to turn my back towards the car so I could get hit. So, I could possibly break my back . . .

These were one of those situations where Luddy couldn't think of a plan without someone getting hurt. Verdammt! Unless, Gilbert could possibly dive in soon enough and help. . . Ludwig glanced at his older brother, and saw that he also realized the situation he was in. Ludwig nodded slightly, and Gilbert seemed to get it.

Gilbert pushed himself to run faster, and for once he was glad that his younger brother forced him to run along with him. Ludwig nodded at him, and he then saw what he meant. Gil smiled weakly, getting the small plan. Verdammt West, if I die by doing my part in your plan, I'll haunt you! I have so much to live for.

Gritting, he watched as the car drifted so that it was facing straight ward into the stall.

Ludwig lunged forward, and dived forward towards [Name]. He heard her yelp as he yanked her into his arms, and he looked at the car as it neared. C'mon bruder. . .

Gilbert then quickly slid forward, in front of the car that began to run forward to 'park'. Gilbert put his arms out behind him as he faced Ludwig with a small smirk, and felt his hands hit the hood of the car. Gilbert felt himself get pushed forward as the car abruptly stopped behind him.

Ludwig sighed in relief, and let himself loosen. Gilbert laughed weakly as he saw Ludwig's face. "N-nice face there West."

He grunted in response, and Ludwig bent his head downward and felt that [Name] was gripping his own shirt tightly. She was whimpering in fear, shouting muffled apologies in his shirt. Ludwig patted her head in an assuring way, and told her quietly that everything was going to be fine.

The driver of the car then emerged from the car, and the brothers saw that a woman was the driver. Gilbert's eyes narrowed. "I-I'm sorry!" the woman said in sorrow. "I-I didn't know where I was going! I didn't see [Na-"

"How do you know her name?" Ludwig interrupted. He pulled himself upwards without using his arms, and looked at the woman with a stern face.

"Pardon?" the woman said in confusion. Ludwig's eyebrows furrowed slightly. There was something strange about this woman. "Let me take you to the hospital. But, I have bags in the back seats, so I'll only have to take the girl."

"Why would we give her to you?" Gilbert growled as he regained his posture after being slightly hit. "You almost killed her!"

"I-I didn't see her!" the woman claimed.

"Lies!" Gilbert shot back. He saw what she was doing when she was in the driver's seat. "I saw you smirking! You were looking straight at her!"

Ludwig looked at the woman, then to [Name]. She had stopped whimpering, and had dried tears on her face. [Name] turned her head towards the woman, and her [e/c] eyes widened. Luddy noticed, and wondered why this woman had stunned her. "[Name]," he said softly. "Do you know this frau?"

[Name] gulped and stared at the woman. She did know her, as did the woman. [Name] then nodded hesitantly, then her eyes slightly narrowed. She turned her head away, and wrapped her arms around Ludwig's neck.

     "She's. . . my mother," she muttered.

The brothers' eyes widened, and they all looked towards the woman. She was indeed her mother, for that she sported [h/c]. The woman gritted, and then smirked. "That's right. I am her mother. And because of that,

"You have to give her back. She is my property, and if you take her, I will call the police and say that you kidnapped her," [m/n] said with a sick grin. [Name] shivered, and she gripped Ludwig's shirt even tighter.

"[Name]'s not something that you could just claim!" Ludwig growled, and put his hand on the back of [Name]'s head. "She's a person. She has feelings too! I'll call the police and say that you are starving her, and doing unhealthy things to her!"

[m/n] laughed loudly, and [Name] shoved herself deeper into Ludwig's arms. Gilbert then walked over to Ludwig, seeing that he was getting slightly angered at the woman. Gilbert gestured for the younger brother to let him carry [Name], and Ludwig obliged. "You don't know anything about [Name]!" [m/n] claimed. "Yes, I hit her and starve her! But that's for punishment! She made my bastard husband leave me! His last words were 'I won't live with a woman like you'. It's her fault!"

"I didn't do that!" [Name] shouted back bravely. "Daddy meant that he can't stand living with you! A person who wouldn't feed their daughter!"

"You should be reported to the police," Gilbert growled darkly.

"Don't worry," a voice sounded from behind them. They all turned, and saw a short man with black hair, accompanied with a taller man that had orangish hair and a curl on his right side. "We already have called the police."

Feliciano Vargas smiled happily, and held up a phone that had sound waves on it. He clicked the play button, and a recording of the small conversation they were having. "We sent it to the police!" the Italian chirped.

     "Damn you. . ." [m/n] said.
